You landed your first client. Now you have to get paid.
Before you send
Get these in writing before starting:
- Total amount or hourly rate
- What''s included (deliverables)
- Payment terms (Net 7? Net 30?)
- Deposit? (50% upfront is standard for projects over 500 USD)
What goes on the invoice
- Your name, address, contact
- Client''s name and address
- Invoice number — start at 001 or 1001
- Issue date and due date
- Itemized services with quantity, rate, total
- Subtotal, tax, total due
- Payment instructions (bank, PayPal, Stripe)
- Notes (thank you, late fee terms)
