You landed your first client. Now you have to get paid.

Before you send

Get these in writing before starting:

  • Total amount or hourly rate
  • What''s included (deliverables)
  • Payment terms (Net 7? Net 30?)
  • Deposit? (50% upfront is standard for projects over 500 USD)

What goes on the invoice

  1. Your name, address, contact
  2. Client''s name and address
  3. Invoice number — start at 001 or 1001
  4. Issue date and due date
  5. Itemized services with quantity, rate, total
  6. Subtotal, tax, total due
  7. Payment instructions (bank, PayPal, Stripe)
  8. Notes (thank you, late fee terms)
